Lucy Fisher

Associate Solicitor

Lucy is an Associate Solicitor in our Family Law Care Team. Her clients describe her as being easy to talk to and supportive whilst giving clear and frank advice.

She has over 10 years’ experience representing children, parents and other family members when the Local Authority (or social services) becomes involved in their family life. This includes advising on pre-proceedings involvement and providing representation in care proceedings if the matter is taken to court.

Lucy studied at the University of Nottingham, where she received her LLB, then went onto receive a distinction for the LPC at Nottingham Law School in 2010. Lucy again achieved a distinction when she completed her masters degree at Nottingham Trent University.

Lucy has been working in law since 2011 and joined Hopkins Solicitors in December 2023 after the local Heanor law firm, Miles & Cash Solicitors, were acquired by Hopkins. She grew up in Ripley so is very familiar with the local area and works from our Heanor Town Centre office in Derbyshire.

She is a children panel member of the Law Society and is part of the Derbyshire Safeguarding Choir. A choir made up of lawyers and other professionals involved in the child protection process in Derbyshire including court staff, social workers, guardians, paediatricians and psychologists.

She has extensive experience in both public and private family law proceedings including representation of parents, family members and children. Specific areas of expertise include:

  • Section 8 orders – child arrangement orders, specific issue orders, prohibited steps orders
  • Parental responsibility orders
  • Special guardianship orders
  • Domestic abuse – non-molestation orders
  • Public law pre-proceedings (PLO)
  • Care proceedings
  • Applications for contact with children in care
  • Discharge of care orders
  • Adoption
  • Step-parent adoption
  • Deprivation of liberty

Lucy is an experienced advocate who frequently represents clients in contested hearings.

When asked why she chose a career in law Lucy said, “I went into law because I have a strong sense of justice and what is right and wrong.”

Hobbies

I spend most of my spare time with friends and my young family. Like to get outdoors to country parks and National Trust properties but also love the theatre – especially musical theatre.
